Schedule Your AppointmentWhite Porcelain Fillings
Dental fillings are an essential treatment that allows Dr. Ramos to stop the destruction of decay and restore a tooth after the decay is removed.
What Are White Dental Fillings?
White fillings are created with a resin compound. This material is applied to your cavity in layers until the desired level of restoration is reached. A special type of light is used to harden and set each layer. As a final step, Dr. Ramos shapes and polishes the filling to look optimally natural and attractive.
In years past, the go-to filling material was a metal amalgam. Although some dentists still use this material, the most modern fillings today are made from composite resin, like the ones Dr. Ramos provides. There are several reasons metal fillings are not the desired choice today:
- Unattractive in your smile. Metal fillings are apparent when you laugh and speak. White fillings blend into your smile and are matched your natural tooth color. No one will notice your white fillings, and thus you can feel more confident in your social interactions.
- Expansion and contraction. Metal fillings expand and contract in response to temperature fluctuations in your mouth. Such movement can crack the tooth containing the filling. When this happens, a tooth crown may be needed to restore the damaged tooth.
- Presence of mercury. Metal fillings contain certain types of material that some patients want to avoid. Chief among them is mercury, which in very high concentrations can be toxic if ingested. Fillings don’t contain enough mercury to be considered dangerous, but many people prefer to avoid having any amount of it in their mouths. Patients have the most advanced, aesthetically pleasing dental restorations available. He restores decayed teeth with white dental fillings, an advanced option with many advantages over metal fillings
Dental Crowns
Dental crowns restore and protect damaged teeth while simultaneously improving the appearance of the tooth. Experienced cosmetic dentist Dr. Ramos creates customized tooth crowns that have a natural yet attractive appearance. These crowns do not show unsightly black lines at the gums. Crowns offered at our practice are also durable, long-lasting, and stain resistant.
What Are Dental Crowns Used For?
A tooth crown is most often appropriate when a large portion of the surface of the tooth has been damaged, but the tooth root system remains intact and healthy. Dr. Ramos may recommend a crown for the following reasons:
- To restore a tooth following root canal treatment
- To restore a tooth with a broken or missing dental filling
- To attach dental bridges
- To cover dental implants
- To rebuild a tooth with worn edges
- To protect a weak tooth in danger of fracturing
- To restore a tooth that has cracked or broken
- To restore misshapen or discolored teeth
Advanced Dental Crowns by Dr. Ramos
To begin the restoration process, Dr. Ramos takes an impression of the tooth, which is used to design a customized dental crown. While your permanent tooth crown is being fabricated, you will wear a temporary crown so that you can smile confidently in the interim.
Once your crown is completed, you will come back to Dr. Ramos’s office to have it permanently placed. First, Dr. Ramos will ensure proper fit and appearance. Then, he places the dental crown using a special dental cement that bonds the crown to the tooth.
Dr. Ramos has extensive experience and training related to dental crown tooth reconstruction. As a result, he is able to provide dental crowns that are beautifully matched to the color of your teeth, so that your smile is not only stronger but more attractive as well.
Dental Bridges
Restoring Missing Teeth with a Dental Bridge. Dental bridges are an option for replacing one or more missing teeth. The only way to know if this tooth-replacement system may be right for you is to visit Dr. Guillermo Ramos for a one-on-one consultation at our Endicott office.
Dr. Ramos is extensively experienced in reconstructing the teeth and the entire bite. He can determine all of the treatments for which you are a good candidate and ultimately help you choose the right one for your expectations.
What Is a Dental Bridge? Dental bridges are used in combination to replace missing teeth. Basically, a dental bridge is a set of connected tooth crowns. The bridge includes a false tooth, which actually replaces the missing tooth, and the surrounding dental crowns support the false tooth. The surrounding crowns are placed over your natural teeth, lending stability and durability to the tooth bridge.
For people who are good candidates, dental bridges typically have the following advantages:
- Fixed bridges are anchored in place and non-removable
- Provide good stability when you eat, speak and laugh
- Blend naturally into your smile
Replacing missing teeth is important for several reasons. Restoring your smile can make you feel more confident when you would otherwise hide the gaps in your smile by placing your hand over your mouth or stifling your laughter. Feeling good about the appearance of your smile can be tremendously important to your mental and emotional health. Replacing missing teeth is also crucial to the proper alignment of your bite and the function of your teeth. A gap left behind by a missing tooth encourages other teeth to drift and tilt into the empty space. Proper bite alignment is also beneficial to the position and function of your jaw joints. A dental bridge may be the right way to avoid cosmetic and functional problems.
Dental Implants to Restore Function
Missing teeth can have a severely detrimental impact on your oral health. If you don’t replace missing teeth, your remaining teeth will suffer and begin to migrate to fill the gap. Over time, your jawbone will start to recede, causing your face to change shape and you could even lose more teeth. Dr. Ramos puts a heavy emphasis on dental implants, and he has successfully restored the function of many of our patient’s mouths.
We offer dental implant options, including:
- Restorative Dental Implants
- Implants for Front Teeth
- Small Diameter Dental Implants supported dentures.
